Spark Plug Wire Tube?

Did the 2N have a tube, which the spark plug wires ran through like the 8N?

If so, mine seems to be missing this part. Can you tell me what the name of this part is?

I'm in Corunna, which is NE of Lansing.

I'm installing new plug wires on the 2N when I recalled that my Dad's 8N had this tube they ran through. I thought maybe it was some kind of heat shield, weather protector, etc.

I couldn't remember eactly what it looked like. I think my Dad called it a "tube"!

Don't know specifically about your tractor but doogdoog has it right - for other kinds of wire bundles it's called a loom.

Our 2N, 1947, has the tube for the spark plug wires.

Smitty........yeah, the 4-nipple frontmount ignition tube; p/n: 2N-12281A, conduit, 9N 2N 8N, 1939-1950. Old time sparkie wires had POOR insulation and needed additional weather proofing. (metal tube is still bad choice of weather proofing 'cuz them lazy sparkies will jump rite to it instead of across the sparkie gap (0.025") inside the cylinder making fer hard-to-find intermittent misses)

Modern silicone insulated copper-core sparkie wires are so much BETTER. You really don't need the tube. Couple of plastic "ty-raps" all ya need. Many a curse has been uttered by electrically challenged shadetree mechanics trying to "fish" new sparkie wires down the tube.

The 5-nipple sidemount 8N sparkie wires are just held inplace by just 1-insulated grommet in a bracket held by a cylinderhead bolt. You can also gitt "dress-up" sparkie wire separator brackets at yer local "hot-rod" shop.........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
