If it uses the older style 7/8 plugs I had best luck with the hotter side wire electrode Autolite 3077 versus the standard 3076 type of plug. That was my experience.

However I didn’t find the brand and style of plugs as important as running the engine at higher temps,,,, avoiding long idle times,,, not running the carb any richer than necessary,,,, keeping the ignition well tuned especially the ignition.

That’s my advice and experience I’m sure others may have had different

I don’t think that 3077 plugs are available anymore
Only place I’ve seen them is tractor shows so if you need and find any better snatch them up. I think AC also made one of those 7/8 side wire electrode plugs but not available now either ??

Currently I'm running Auto lite 3076. I was told by someone that rebuilds magnetos the 3077 is no longer being made. He said Champion w89d is the way to go. Eventually I'm switching to the w89d.

Might as well buy 4 when you find them and keep 2 in their boxes in a plastic bag in the toolbox. With the big wrench. Don’t want to miss out on showday. When I’ve been using the old tractor twice a week in the summer it is an annual spark plug change. You probably should get a lot more than that out of the hot ones John T suggested for your use. But it’s how I’ve adapted to the cold plugs and the old number w18 champion at the farmstore plugs and napa Autolite 3076 online or yesterdays tractor here has it as well. all summer when you get it good and hot for 3 hours it’s fine but the last couple starts of fall you will then be ready to clean the plugs exhausted from throwing the flywheel and at that time I’ve just put them in and it works till next fall again if that makes sense. It’s not perfect you get used to doing that or cleaning them a lot more often

But it doesn’t matter which plug is in it if you accidentally flood for the parade just switch to the new and let them dry out instead of finding someone who still smokes with a lighter
