spark plugs

I have a 46 2N, frnt mount distr. 12V conversion. Thinking about changing head gasket, oil in radiator coolant but no coolant in the oil. I am guessing the head gasket is the problem. Which gasket would someone recommend the all metal gasket pn#8N6051B or the softie pn#8N6051A.

Re-torque the head BEFORE tearing into things.

How old is the coolant?

(A little oily sheen on the top of the coolant doesn't hurt ANYTHING... but even the slightest amount of coolant in the OIL is never acceptable.)

The oil in radiator is a solid film on top of coolant. The coolant and plugs were changed about 100 hrs ago and the plugs are completely covered in oil and carbon, went to 4 parts stores today for new plugs and everybody was out of them (lots of old ford tractors in this area). The head removal looks pretty simple.

If ALL your plugs are carbony/sooty it's VERY unlikely a head gasket replacement is going to be of ANY help with THAT problem.

Sounds like stuck/worn piston rings.

If the rings were worn, wouldnt it smoke? mine doesnt smoke except a little black puff when I pull on throttle to max quickly. (By the way, I guess I had new spark plugs on my brain when I typed in spark plugs on subject title).
