speeding idle..

While I am trying to hook stuff to the 3 point hitch my tractor tends to speed up the idle unless I wedge something under the throttle lever.. What would cause it to speed up idle?? I thought maybe the friction plate on the idle lever??
Thanks

You are correct there is a flat round disk below
dash. You can tighten the spring on throttle rod
to keep it even)or consistent speed if you can if it
doesn't work than you need a new friction disk

I think this site sales them. I made one for mine
it's about 3" round with 1/2" hole in the middle i
was able to slide mine in place with out taking the
throttle rod off by slicing it from the center hole
to the out side and slipping it around the throttle
rod. I just didn't want to take the linkage apart
and haven't had any problems.

I addition to adjusting the compression of the Spring at the back of the Air Cleaner to hold the Lever, make sure that the link on the compensating spring that attaches to the Thermostat housing that it should be touching the Long throttle rod over the Engine when the throttle is set to idle, otherwise it will allow the Lever to move....John(UK)[email protected]

i put a new friction washer on my throttle handle and checked the springs everything looks good... but it still wants to idle up a little but not as bad as before. does anyone have any other ideas??

It is to do with the compensating spring at the top of the throttle linkage, one end is attached to the Thermostat Housing and the other is attached to the "L" shaped Link that fits between the spring and the Clamp on the Long Throttle Rod from th Dash Panel. This "L" shaped Link should be touching the Long Rod, if it isn't the throttle can shut down like yours does. Slacken the Clamp slightly and turn the Clamp on the Long Rod so that the Vertical throttle Link is GENTLY pushed down-wards, when the "L" shaped Link is touching the Long Throttle Rod over the Engine, it should work OK.....John(UK)[email protected]
