Spike drag spikes

I found an old spike drag that I want to modify to work an my 2Ns 3 point. I need it to work on our road. It is missing some spikes and some are pretty worn. Anyone have any idea as to where I could find some replacement spikes?

Buy some square steel stock, cut to length, and pound into place (assuming it"s a wood Boss harrow). They"re nothing special- just mild steel.

How many spikes would you need and what do they look like? There were a few different styles. I saved a whole pile of broken up harrow sections from going to scrap with the thought someone may need some spikes or I could put together a good unit but since i have 2 drag harrow and 1-3point already how many can a person use??Quite a little work to get them off and maybe to worn out for your needs.(not new)Maybe you could take a picture and length of one of yours?cleddy

A lot of steel frame ones the teeth are bolted on with u-bolts, then others have like a bolt on top end of them and go through a pipe and fasten on with a half inch nut.

Buhler is still making drag harrows as Farm King brand. We bought a new harrow 5-6 years ago.Had a bolt come loose and lost a couple of pieces and replacement parts were here quickly and reasonably priced.Teeth are available for flat bars or tube frame but come in a bundle of I think 25.Metric thread as they are Canadian made.

Got any railroad tracks in your area?? If you do take a walk down those tracks and pick up old railroad spikes laying along the track. Seen many of those on old drag harrows

If yours has the ubolt/clamp on type,I once saw a harrow that had been 'retoothed' with pieces of re-bar.it was obvious that they had been there for a long time....

Here is a picture of the drag. It has 3 styles of spikes. One looks like a sq. nail 1/2"x1/2". The other is diamond shaped,5/8"x7/8". The 3rd looks like a fish hook. It has 4 of these, one at each corner.

Those curved teeth are called runner teeth and they are designed for when the harrow is set for out of use and moving down the road to anouther field it slides on those instead of the teeth points to wear them out fast. The difference between the square and diamond is just the maker. Cant see the harrow good enought to identify make.

I,m pretty sure I have a variety that would be like the sq. nail or the diamond shape but never seen any that look like a fish hook. Some have the nut on them or others have a clevis. As someone mentioned this implement is not good for much except seeding or maybe scrachting the surface up a little. Maybe a old back blade would be better for your drive???cleddy
