Would one of you give me a 'thumbnail' lesson on spin out wheels?
I've never been exposed to them up close and personal...
The what, why, and how they work would be great.
This is entirely educational/curiosity in nature.
I know this is elementary, but I don't know, so be kind.
Thanks, Bob

Recently asked my dad the same thing. Im pretty sure allis Chalmers came out with them first. Anyhow I guess the design behind them was to make it easy to adjust wheels instead of how it was done in the past. My dad said you loosened up the bolt put tractor in gear and stood on the breaks and then let clutch out until you got wheels where you wanted them. I don't know how exact that is due to the fact they farmed with mostly new gen deere but thats what he said.

I will probably go to you know where for posting an Allis Chalmers Video on the John Deere forum... But here is a link to an old Allis Promotional movie showing how the power adjust wheels in action.

Thank You, Mr. Rack!
The film answered all my questions. Who'd a thunk anything Orange could be so well designed. :)
Appreciate the info. Now, I'm smarter than when I woke up this morning.

Most Welcome... I have spent plenty of time on those orange ones. Lots of snap and more power than they can plant to the ground most of the time...

Don't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure John Deere owned the patent for spin out wheels & AC paid JD a royalty on every tractor they built until that patent ran out.

Good info here already and here's a little more detail . The wrench leaning against the 530 wheel is a factory issue JD adjustment wrench issued with a tractor with power adjust wheels . The video didn't mention the stops at all and the first pic shows them well . On a JD 530.630,730 you have 6 jack bolts . To adjust them first you remove the stop as shown in the first pic and move the one in or out to where you want the adjustment to stop . Loosening the jack bolts can be entertaining if they have never been moved . Only loosen 3 and make sure you record how much you loosen them and what ones you loosen . This saves the hassle of re-centering the rim . After you have them adjusted where you want them remove the other stop and move it up to the new position . The operators book for 530,630 & 730 JD's covers this well . Enjoy and yes I like these . Gotz any ya wanna sell !!!!!!!!!
