Splitting 4430 Cabbed Tractor

Considering splitting this tractor to see what the problem is with 2 speed in quad range. Not slipping, just not moving at all in 2,4, or 2r. I havent jacked up rear end but I did disconnect linkage and tried to move lever by hand to make it go into high range with no luck. Ive split them before and use a 2.5 ton floor jack under rear end. I have stands to hold up the front. Wondering what you all use when you split? I didnt feel real comfortable with th small floor jack I had. Also, if I disconnect the a/c lines at the cab, are there check valves in those connections so I wont lose the Freon? Thanks for any input.

I do like you did just a bigger floor jack. A/C couplers 'had' self sealing valves so they could be disconnected without draining the system. After 45 years very few will still seal good enough to get the
job done.

I use a ten ton floor jack myself to hold the rear up....custom(home made) front stands made from heavy trailer screw jacks that are height adjustable and have wheels....

I spent 20 years in a JD dealer shop and have seen half a tractor hit the floor!...It ain't pretty!

Thats what I want to avoid. I dug some front stands a guy had loaned me awhile back and checked them out. Had got them awhile back but the casters wouldnt turn. Was easier to repair than I figured. I have some stationary front stands that bolt on to frame, but rolled back end away last time and wasnt to comfortable. Ive got the others now where I can possibly roll front end away and leave back stationary. Sounds as if that might be a better idea. Thanks for your replys!
