Splitting stands

Never split one but A man I helped part time we split a lot of IH some Moline's ,Deere's and Case. We always rolled the back half away. Oh by the way we made up a little stand for Super 55 & 550 Oliver's. I have also split the larger Oliver's (1750 up through 1950T models) and we rolled the back half away. Questions, my e-mail is open. J.

I have VERY old Walker jack. It is mechanical and will stay where you set it. Just great for rolling back halves away from the front. I built adjustable stands to hold the front.

I have split quite a few Cockshutt/COOP tractors as it just seem quicker and easier if I am just working on a clutch, pressure plate and clutch release bearing. I have
done it two ways with almost no issues. I usually block the front half of the tractor so it doesn't move or want to tilt. Using a chain hoist or a heavy duty engine hoist
on wheels. I just simply take the pressure off the front half of rear end, Tranni, unbolt and unhook everything. then simply roll it back wards on the rear wheels. I then
do my work and roll it back together, you may have to play with height to get it started. Here is my biggest hint. I engage the pto and use a pipe wrench to gently rock
the input shaft back and forth till the spline slips into the drive coupler keep forward pressure as I do. it will pop in and then the last 3/4" is pulled with he bolts.
I hope this is what you were looking for. Irv

I'm curious why that last 3/4" will not easily slip together without pulling with bolts. I would be afraid I was going to damage parts.

A lot of time if you rock and continue to wiggle it, it does slip all the way in till just a 1/8 crack remains. Normally by the time you have the approximate 3/4 gap
everything is aligned and starting together so I just put a couple bolts in it to keep it aligned. A lot of times once the two bolts are applied again just a little more
wiggling and it slides the rest of the way together. I was just trying to keep it short and sweet and is all just my opinion based on my experiences.
