Spray gun question

Mornin, fellas. My new HVLP gun emits a constant low pressure air bleed when I'm not shooting paint. Is that normal? (i.e. does it do that to keep the gun clear?)

I've tried setting the fan and air pressure controls but it still does it. It doesn't seem to bother anything, paints like a son of a gun, which I guess it is.

a bleed ? u mean out the front of it ? thats bad id guess bad air seal somewhere , shouldnt be no air coming out inless maybe u have your trigger turned in to far to keep it part way open ? u have 2 or 3 adj knobs on it one will cause it to lose air if open to far if thats not the case bad seal somewhere return it get a real one , devbliss ,Iwata, if u bought a cheapy u get what u pay for ....

There are bleeder and non-bleeder types of spray guns. If your gun is a bleeder type, then there will be constant airflow. If it is a non-bleeder gun, then there will be no airflow unless the trigger is depressed. A bleeder type gun is used with a turbine or a compressor without a reserve tank and it will work just fine with a reserve tank. The only problem would be that it might kick up some dust if pointed in the wrong direction (constant air). I once had a spray gun that had dual functions, bleeder and non-bleeder by turning a small valve. If you need further information, do a web search and you will come up with a lot of information.
