Sprayer help

I just bought a sprayer 3 wks ago, guy said pump had just been rebuilt, he drained it out, put it away. Just replumbed some lines and tried it - evidently water got back into the system and cracked the pump (ace centrifical) I'm trying to bronze the casting on the outside and JB weld the inside - it looks as though Ive got a shot. (if not I can buy the piece for $100) My problem comes in on the 3 electric solonoid shutoffs - they look as if 1 is partially cracked - can you buy the plastic body to repair the valve or will I have to pay out $100 x 3 valves. I've already got an extra $300 into it since I bought it (hoses and nozzel bodies - my choice to do) - but I do believe is was an honest mistake. Please offer any insight. - Thanks

A sprayer is a very high maintance item.

I have had all those things happen that you talked about and I thought it was drained for the winter.

Water will be in a loop somewhere and fall back into the pump or valves if the sprayer is tipped the right direction without knowing it.

Where are you located? I have used valves and pumps that have gone bad but the housings are still good.

What brand of valves are they?

Repair kits are available, and the parts sheet shows numbers for main bodies, etc. Check with local fertilizer/chem dealers or equipment dealers.

I'm in NW Iowa - its an Ace Pump but I'd have to check the number I'll also check on the valves- they are a white plastic instead of the newer black banjo plastic

I run a gallon or 2 of diesel fuel and/or RV antifreeze through the system in fall, sprayers have survived 10-15 years for me here in MN.

Of course, having said that, I will find both of them busted this spring when I get them out......
