Spring harrow on new ground

OK so I just bought a International 300U. I have a
2 bottom plow. I currently have chunk of ground
tilled up. I am looking to plow up a bunch of my
back lawn. I have the opportunity to pick up a
spring tooth harrow. Here is my question. As I
have NO experience doing this... Does anyone know
if the spring tooth drag will be enough to break
up freshly turned over ground (with sod)? I really
don"t want to go buy a 900 pound 6 foot disk. Not
strictly a tractor question I know... but I would
appreciate the advice.

100 years ago it was the only way to do it. You have to let the sod sit and die for while or you will just drag it all back up.

A disc can get on it right after plowing.

It"s been a long time since I have used a springtooth. I remember setting it to just scratch fresh plowed sod knock off the rough edges. A springtooth is not my favorite tillage implement in my rocky ground.

They have their uses, nowdays nice to keep dirt drives level, but as mentioned below, best after plowing and discing, the disc harrow breaks up the big lumps and starts it drying, then the "drags" or technically spring tooth can break it up into nice powder and small chunks, level and fill in low spots. But yes, just pulling it around will just let the angle iron bulldozer the clumps. But if you get a set, keep them.
