I try to always use it for an hour or so before
the oil & filter change to get it good & hot, so I
plowed the garden 1st.....big surprise, though,
when I 1st fired her up....I could smell raw fuel.
It was flowing over the top of the glass bowl in a
steady stream. The bowl screw was good & tight,
the cork gasket was intact, so I don't know what
prompted the leak. There was no leak when I shut
it down 3 weeks ago. These little mysteries amaze
me.
I went ahead & cut a new cork gasket & everything
is dry again.
On last years oil change I used Rotella SAE 30. I
didn't expect any big difference in performance
from previous years using 30wt, but that is the
1st year I used detergent oil in it since the
rebuild in '05. This year I did make a change
using Rotella 15w40. I'll be interested to see if
there's much of a pressure boost when the engine's
hot.
The MF165D has had Rotella 30 in it this past year
too. I plan to try the 15w40 in it as well.
