Sputter and rough running 8n

Okay.... So I have tried adjusting the carb throttle intake adjustment.... No results. It runs good on a cold start but once it warms up it spitters and sputters and surges below 1000 RPMs. It also sputters going do hills, but cooing up it has plenty of power and doesn't sputter at all or surge. So runs great under load and but no load, it sputters. I have checked the timing and carb. The carb makes absolutely no difference at all and fiddling with the timing does what would be expected...gets worse. Where should I
Go from here? I'm lost and don't know what else to try.

First off how is the air cleaner?? Full or oil or full of water and mud??
Next when you adjust the main jet the one pointing down at an angle can you screw it all the way in and all the way out with it it doing much and or can you pull it out and it still run?? If adjusting the main jet as I said does little or nothing your carb has a clogged up main jet circuit and needs a good cleaning and rebuild

I can pull the main screw all the way out with no change. As far as screwing it in, I usually can't screw it in more than 4 turns before it starts running really bad.

Pulling it all the way out means the air vent part of the carb is clogged up and need to be opened up. The float bowl has a vent and when it will still run with the main jet all the way out that tells me the float bowl vent is clogged up

[i:fc45baa022]OK codi....I'm going to post this again!
Read the whole thing this time. especially the part where it says......(if you have to turn the fuel adjust needle out more than two turns.....you have something wrong in the carb)!!!!

Here is a cut-away, that shows the passages to clean out. Pic. made by JMOR!!!

If you don't want to clean out the carb.....make a post for/to ROYSE!!!! He will help you straighten the carb out, or do it for you!!!!!!

Yes it does.!!!!! Everyone has been thinking that you had a OEM type, Marvel Schebler, on your 'N'!!???
If you have an 'Aftermarket' carb on it, what type or # is it????
Aftermarket carbs are peices of junk, JMHO, and even if it is a NEW one....God only knows how it will run!!!???

Can you post a picture of it????

There is only one aftermarket carb., that I would use/buy, and for the cost of that carb, I could buy two OEM carbs, clean them up, and be able to guaranty that they would run properly!!!
We need to know what your carb is.........may even be the wrong model, for you 'N'????????

Did the box it came in, have this written on it???

Ford 8N Carburetor, NewCarburetor, New - Black. Cast iron. Exactly like original. For 8N, 9N, 2N. (Part No: 8N9510C-Black)

If so......that is an aftermarket clone, of the orig. MS carbs, and may be like waiting for a lottery check to arrive!
MOST, if not ALL of those aftermarket carbs, are cast iron from china.......badly casted, and some of the passages do not meet specs.! Very poor quality!!!!

I suspect/chances are you have a BAD carb from China!!!!!

Like I said before get hold/ post to ROYSE, and ask him to help you sort this all out.!!!!
