stabilizing bars

Hi, I posted earlier today about putting my tractor away for the winter. But befor I did this thought I would put some stabilizer bars on first. This is the first time I have them on the tractor since I got it 6 months ago.First I had to loosen the fenders and reposition the angle brackets because the bars would not line up. Then I installed the bars and tightened everything down and went to lift my 6ft king kutter finish mower and I bent the left side bar. Are you not suppose to lift the implement with them on.Or did something get bound up. The brackets and pins where on the tractor when I got it and I bought the bars from TSC. Any ideas what I did wrong. Thanks Brian

That bar you bought from TSC will be Fine.
The Main GOAL is to Keep your lift Arms or anything else From chewing on the Rear Tires.

The pins for the stabilizer bars must be exactly in line with the lower link pins. You may have the wrong brackets or they are not lined up correctly. I use stabilizer brackets on my tractor with the bush hog and I can raise the implement without bending the arms.

I fought this battle about a year ago..Never had been right since I got it in 04..One stab. bar had had an extra hole blown in it with a fire wrench so it would half-way work. I made arrangements to get original brackets(used) from one of the well recognized used parts sellers.. When I received them they would not work either--they were for an 8N and mine is a 2N---they are not the same. Also an extra hole had been blown in the under the fender bracket(heavy angle type with several hole choices)..Anyway the brackets were returned to the seller- I think he learned something and I did for sure-until then I thought a bracket was a bracket...Got new stab. bars and moved the left side under the fender pin to the hole it was suppose to be in(straight across from the lift arm pin)and all is well..

look very carefully at the brackets, they must be inline with the lower lift pin on the rear end it must all work togeather and check that both stabilizer arms are the same lenght there is more than 1 lengh out there
