Anyone know what font is used for the lettering on the side of Yanmar hoods "YANMAR YM 1700"?

Whatever Japanese firm prints the decals might not use a commercial font but their own.

The "YANMAR" is in a sans-serif, extra-bold, slightly italic. As for the "YM 1700," there are two versions, the same but serif and the same but non-italic.

If you can't take it from there, tell me what font packages you have and I'll try to find a close one for you.

I wouldn't think they used "fonts'. I suspect the had in-house artists create logos as needed.

Henhouse 1, I don't know why you think my question is "sick" but maybe if you know the context of the question you may change your mind.

I recently bought a used Yanmar at an equipment auction. It's in great mechanical shape w/ only 800 hours but it needs a new paint job. I live in Laos (a country located between Thailand and Vietnam) so I can't just pick up the phone and call the gang at Hoye and say "send me a full set of labels & decals for a YM 1500". The shipping and Customs fees would make it cost prohibitive. So, I do what most people do in this part of the (Communist) world, take stock of the resources I have and improvise. The resources I DO have is a working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, a web connection and a printing shop that prints good quality plastic labels. I recently made a new label for my generator control panel (and yes, I made the Honda logo from a free downloadable Honda font) and it came out great.

So, that's why I want to know what font is used for Yanmar graphics. If that's "sick" to you so be it....

I'm going to guess that he was using one of the alternative meanings of "sick" and he was not trying to offend.

I have found that one of the a standard windows fontS is VERY similar to the Yanmar font. I'll see if i saved it somewhere.

Aaron, thanks for the possible explanation for the use of the term "sick". Living in a foreign country I don't always keep up w/ the ever changing English slang.

I used a website called What the Font to identify a close match for the font. Interstate UltraBlack Italic is close for the alpha characters but no close matches for the numbers. Just shoot me the name of the Windows font and I can follow up from there.
