Start land clearing tomorrow!

Contractor finally moved in his equipment today. Excavator,dozer with root rake, and transfer truck. Looked like a bunch of Tonka Toys sitting out in the field tonite. If all goes well, I should have about ten more acres of field to spread manure on this weekend.

Do you need a permit to do the clearing? Here in california it is very hard to clear new land. If you should be lucky enough to get a permit, you would need to buy land from a land bank to take the place of the land you clear. Same thing if you put in a new road that road also must be added to the land bank amount. This is what happens when you get a bunch of tree huggers running the state gov. These same people make the rules on how much brush you can clear around your house to protect it from fires. As you see on the news calif just lost another 53 homes near Los Angeles to fires. Now maybe they wil change the rules on buush clearing.Stan

Land bank? WTH is a land bank? You mean that you have to buy land in order to clear your own land??? Thats screwed up. If that's the case, you don't own your land, All you are doing is renting it and taking care of it for the state.

I guess that is what happens after they pass blue laws and zone'n regs, they have to come up with something new. I guess it is just what ever you are used to but I don't think I could ever live in the land ruled by fruits and nuts. Sorry yall have have to jump flame'n hoops to use your own land.

It's bad all over, not just California. I had to get a "soil and erosion" permit because I was doing an "earth change" (putting in a driveway) within 500' of a county drain. Went to the township meeting last nite. A store owner was in front of the board because he got a violation for "outdoor display of merchandise". He had ATVs and dirt bikes displayed in front of his store during business hours. They said he had to get a "special land use permit" and file a site plan that showed the display area and merchandise to be displayed.

Wetlands are another sore subject with me. Big developers get away with filling them because they buy property elsewhere and build wetlands on them to "mitigate" the loss. But some guy comes out to your land and sees a mud puddle and you could be in trouble for filling it.

It is screwed up all right. Large pieces of natural undisturbed land are set aside. You buy a piece of that land for what you disturbe, at a much lower dollar amount, but it still isn't right. When my brother was in the cattle business developers with large pieces of land would let him run his cattle for nothing, and would even pay for fencing in some cases, so the land would not go back to brush again.Stan

In regard to "another good reason not to live in Kalifornia", these ideas rapidly grow legs and cross state lines. 37 chief is not exaggerating, you all should take note and be careful who you vote for, even in your local town or county or you will have to deal with the socialists in power.

Michigan aint that much better, too many gov. a$$holes sucking down our money, high taxes, high car registration, high car insurance, high property taxes. Plus we have the 8itch Jenny.

I actually heard of a case in Michigan where a guy dug a pond then 10 years later filled it in and then was fined for not pulling a permit to fill it in when he dug it in the first place, (now thats stupid MICH. government for ya)
