Started another tractor project

Started my retirement with a house project, so a bit slow getting started on tractor stuff. Was too cold to work in my cold shed so I asked Bonnie how she felt about redoing the kitchen. I was a little surprised she was in favor. Lol. This was the before.

Then I ran across this little loader on market place, so that meant a trip to Iowa.

The tractor project is my 830, last year I overhauled the engine and case-o-matic. Then last spring and axle bearing went out and the parts got in the rear end gears and destroyed them. So yesterday with the help of my friend doug we took it apart. I built some stands to make things easier.

The main pinion and spur gears were all destroyed.

The spider gears weren't damaged but show wear and the oil slinger gear in the high/low part is toast too, but that is not uncommon as they are just plastic. Also found that the pinion was bad anyway because the nut that holds everything had stripped and it was loose. When the axle bearing went out it broke the axle housing as well which I guess is common. Not sure i would fix it, but since I did the engine and com last year I will. Guess the retirement fund is going to take a hit. Lol

Kitchen looks very nice!

We really need to redo our kitchen... we need entirely new cabinetry - will go from old, worn out, painted cupboards to oak, most likely. Just really hate to undertake the task and the expense.

You are keeping busy in retirement, for sure!!

I'm always amazed how much work you just dive in and get done. I'm 73, overweight and out of shape. I been working 2 days putting some weights on a tractor and I'm still not done. Kitchen looks nice.

Nice job on the kitchen. Forgive me if I don’t show it to Mrs Pittman, I got enough to keep me busy for a while.

Excellent job on the kitchen. Isn't retirement great, you can tackle jobs like those and it isn't "work".
