my oliver cle-tract has a starter that says 12v, but no stamp on genny, is it a 6v or a 12v neg or pos ground, it got me woundering what do i have.. thanks for any info

I suggest spinning the generator on a bench and check the output voltage, I know, easier said than done.
Also, what does the voltage regulator say? What year is it? I mean, I hear Cletrac and I think 6V positive ground and a magneto....

A generator is positive ground, and alternator is negative ground. Does it run?? I could be wrong, it's been a long time but, I think you could jump the starter without a battery in it and if the generator is working you should be able to check the generator output. It's a long shot, but if it has a 12 volt starter I'd bet it has a 12 volt generator.

What year and what model? They built more than one. I'll never claim to be an expert on the crawlers, but a general rule with Olivers, if it's 57 or newer, it's 12 volt. If it has a generator, it positive ground. They went to alternators and negative ground around 65 or 66.
