I have a few extra new starter drives that I don’t need for 8ns and I thought they also fit the 2n and 9n tractors. I’ve been selling the ones I have and Had a guy send me this picture today saying it’s different than his on his Ford 9n starter. Will it not work?? It does look different and I didn’t realize they took different ones.

The one on the left is the original style which will disengage when one cylinder fires even though the tractor hasn't started. The one on the right is the new style which will stay engaged until the tractor starts and is a direct replacement for the original.
Ok. So it will work?

The new'n that is Moe better : ) is referenced as a "Posi drive" (positive drive) when it locks in they can be a bear to unlock. Those new style drives are in the same category as aftermarket oem style key switch I will not sell one to a walk in customer. They will fudge with the drive get it locked and I have to waist my time unlocking it are give then another.

I made a post around 2017 on getting the drive off, on and unlocked. I took a drive apart and made a tool to work on them. I had to figure out how to unlock a few new drives I had exchanged for customers.

The aftermarket oem 2 wire style key switch DON'T WAIST YER MONEY ON ONE THEY ARE JUNK!!!!
