Starter for UTS

I just went from a 283 to a 445cid and my old starter (which was a little slow to start with) and barely will turn over now. Can this be rebuilt to handle the increase in compression or what other options do I have? Thanks!

Are you at 6 or 12 volts? If at 6 volts, you could try bigger cables. Does it start with the "barely will turn over now"?

Of course rebuild the starter.that would be part of the engine job. Be nice to know if you have the 12 volt starter as the early ones were 6 volt.
