Starter rebuild

I want to have a 6 volt starter rebuilt. There are no repair shops near me. Does anyone know of a shop that I can ship my starter to for a
rebuild? I have done some in the past with good results but this one has me stumped. Thanks!

Bustin,You might give these folks a call about your starter.

Automotive Manufacturers Inc
2400 N Lombardy St Richmond, VA 23220
(804) 321-6861

They do mail order work. They rebuild carbs, clutches, pressure plates, water pumps, alternators, generators, starters & reline brakes.

Some of your auto part stores are affiliated with generator/alternator/starter rebuild companies. I know the local NAPA stores are affiliated with Wilson, a company that will take your old unit in and rebuild it. You didn't say exactly what your make and model is, but you can go on the Wilson web site, look up your application to determine the Wilson part number and give them a call to see if a rebuild is still applicable.
This is not a plug for Wilson, just that I've used them in the past and the local stores are their go-between.

Just as a "heads up" "Wilson Auto Electric" out of Winnipeg no longer exists as a real company.

Several years ago, (a less highly rated) starter and generator rebuilder by the name of "BBB" took them over, and they exist in name only, as it benefits "BBB".

They had one of the most extensive line of starter and generator parts, and most (if not all) have been discontinued/nla.

Just ANOTHER death of a helpful/useful company!
