starter removable

I think this is a TO-35 but not positive.
I need to remove the starter but it interferes with the cast distributor housing...it will not slide out far enough to be removed. any ideas, tricks or suggestions?

The 35 has two gear levers, with the small one allowing it to go from low to high range and giving a total of six forward and two reverse, and the engine number will begin Z134.... Usually you can jiggle and cuss and just barely slide the starter out. You may not have an original starter.

thank you... I see more cussing required. LOL
I will check the numbers, but yes it has dual range gearing. the thing is stranded in the hay field, loader down and started well about to be jiggled and cussed at some more....

Be sure to remove the bolts completely, allowing it to wiggle more. I assume you did that. If turning the distributor or collar helps, you can do that and reset the timing later.

I have already loosened and moved the distributor collar and bolt.
Bolts are completely out...it is now wedged between the start cone opening and the cast area where the distributor drops into the block... I cant believe it should be this difficult. My only thought now is there is just enough rust build up between the cone and the mounting hole that it is not allowing enough "drop" of the starter and wedging the cone tight in the mounting hole before the started can drop enough to clear the distributor housing. More wiggling and MUCH more cussing, coming up!!!

I can only keep in mind that starter had to be put in there at some point in time, so it has to come out ....right? LOL

Any way for me to tell if this is an original starter or not?

Is it possible to upload a picture of this issue on this site?

Just a wild idea, can you remove the bottom plate on the bell housing to view the front end of the starter to see if it is hung up or something. I am new to this, so forgive me if this was a stupid idea.

YAY! SUCCESS!
The high tech tools required to finish this project...36" pry bar, and 16oz hammer....LOL
after a few hours of sanding both the bore and the cone of all rust and corrosion, a LOT of cussing (as recommended earlier) prying and tapping firmly, if finally cleared the dristributor mount casting... Thanks.
Have pictures to share if any one is interested.
