Starter safety

My starter neutral safety only works in first gear. I have not taken it apart whatsoever yet but I was wondering if there is any quick answers other than but the manual lol. I have no need to fix it ASAP but it will be corrected before late august(local threshermans reunion).

I have a similar issue with my 2N. Went to start it on the trailer and didn't verify fully it was in neutral, to have it roll backwards. Thankfully I was not harmed, and then it was fun getting the wheels back on the trailer, they were both free spinning. Testing the safety I found out it is in all gear positions. Do you by chance have the 2N Fix too?

Shifter can swing the hinged curved part left and right and when in neutral and centered, only then can rod of start button pass thru hole in curved piece. Otherwise the button is blocked.

You will have to pull the top cover, yes and the steering gear post and see what's going in there. I found that curved piece that JMOR is describing broken. I was able to get it welded up and now it works great.
