Case 441, gas. Is there a way to bypass the switch on the plate right behind the gear shift. The one that you have to push gear knob into "S" so it will start. As it is now with the way it's wired you push gear shift into "S" and then start like you would a regular car with the key. All help is appreciated and THANKS in advance. Pembroke

Most switches are either normally open or normally closed and then change state when the switch is operated. I would imagine it's a normally open switch that closes when it is operated. That being said, the wires likely just need to be tied together to bypass the switch. I don't ever recommend bypassing safeties unless necessary for temporary operation though. Is there a reason you don't want the safety of this, what is essentially a neutral safety?

I can't confirm any of the above except the p/n A20990 for early 430 and some of the other models as listed in respective parts catalogs.

I've not done this on a Case specifically, but this works on other brands. I'm guessing the neutral safety start switch that Case used is the same as the other brands of tractors. There normally are two wires coming to the plate behind the gear shift. To bypass this switch you take the two wires off and hook them together. Remember, the purpose of a neutral safety switch is to not allow the tractor to start while in gear. If you bypass this, it will start even though it's in gear so be careful when starting it if you do bypass it.

To All: Thanks for your replies and concerns. I was thinking (I get in trouble for doing that) less wiring, not about the safety aspect. I grew up on tractors with NO safety switch. Take out of gear, push in clutch and start tractor. As I'm getting older I guess I should be thinking about safety more. Thanks again for your concerns and replies. Pembroke
