tractor will only start with throttle completely closed, choke open. run good after started what could what could the problem be.

Might naught be anything wrong, my 420 JD will only start with closed throttle, Allis D-14 will only start with 3 notches on the throttle and no choke.

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. The carb may be set a tad rich which could account for it.

When I start my WD, I have to have the throttle closed and the choke open as well.
The difference.....I have to crack the throttle and "feather" the choke immediately upon firing.

As with any engine they all have there formula where this and that has to be just so to start easy. So could well be just fine or it could be the carb is a bit rich. If I remember right the B does not have an adjustable main jet so maybe some one at some time drilled the main jet out bit when they where cleaning it so it now runs richer then it was made to be. If it starts easy and does not smoke a lot of black smoke I'd just live with it
