I have a 130 that am rebuilding got it painted, rebuilt hydraulics, new wiring harness, new carb, new points wires cap and plugs, new spring in governor, when I try to start it it fires but won’t go ahead and pick up and idle, run for maybe a minute and die, was doing this when I shut it down to do this work on it and I’m scratching my head any help would be greatly ap

If it is 12 volt, maybe the resister is bad?????????

Hello Taro.. welcome to YT! What kind of fuel flow do you have out of the drain on the carb? If it runs a short bit then stops you are going to have to figure out where the flow is blocked. Very common to have rust and crud come loose in the tank and block the outlet into the sediment bowl. Look down in you tank with a good flashlight and see what is floating around down there. This site sells little screens that can be fit in the top of the sediment bowl to help with this problem but the tank needs to be clean. Also I think there is a screen in the fitting where the fuel line mounts to the carb. If you had junk in the fuel line this may be plugged. Do you have a sediment bowl on it under the gas tank?

It’s has new sediment bowl on it and don’t see any debris to speak of, and gas dripping out of carb so I’ve got flow to there anyway 🤔

New fuel line also, new intake, so can the governor cause something like this, I’m wandering about that

Just FYI, went back through everything on this 130 related to fuel, ignition, and all it was was it was about 10/15 degrees out timing wise, made small adjustments until it cracks right off, was overthinking it go figure

You didn’t say any that would lead us to think it is a magneto ignition. Did you check the mechanical advance to see if it is free? The distributor shaft should be able to be turned clockwise about 10 degrees with the rotor with your thumb and finger against spring tension. It should spring back when you release it. If you aren’t able to do this your mechanical advance is stuck.

Not a magneto ignition, I could only get it to fire and run for a minute or so, so went back at through fuel system and it checked out good, so went back through ignition system plug gap, point gap, firing order seemed right, turned the engine around to compression on number one with piston at top, rotor seemed to be pointing at number one on cap so just loosened the distributor hold down and turning it a few degrees at a time till starts and runs

This is where we’re at now starting and running pretty well, battery box is about all I have left besides Farmall hood emblems and decals thanks for the input
