I have a 1953 TD-6, gas to diesel, of course. It used to start good on gas side, no longer does. Cleaned carb, still won't. It fires but it's like it's getting diesel in it. Hear it snapping over well. Any thoughts. Thanks. Switch from diesel back to gas and it runs like a watch.

well it's getting a full shot of diesel then, and no gas, I cant help you, this is a question for Pete 23 or Jim N.

Dark smoke is an indication of too much gasoline. Diesel in the gas side will provide very white smoke and the very strong smell of diesel. I would look to the choke on the gas carb, and also the float that might cause flooding unless it was warmed up from running and, as a result, had better vaporization and running on gas. They need to run rich, but not radically rich. Cleaning the plugs might also help. Jim
