Static timing success!!

Thanks for the support on getting my B-I-L's 8N, 1952 sidemount 6 volt timed. While I never could line up the timong marks with the #1 cyclinder I did set it to the compression stroke by feel and after resetting the teeth a few time she took right off. Once running we put the timing light on # 1 and still found nothing. I did put it on #2 and #3 and lo and behold the timing mark appeared. Looks like the flywhhel was repositioned at some point, (?). Again, thanks for the help on this one. I will send some pics when I have the hood and rest of the sheet metal on her.

Sounds like somebody lost their crank to flywheel dowel pins! You would think that they would have at least lined up the empty dowel holes. You would have thought wrong though.

Glad to hear you got it running.
Drawback is you can't actually time it.
I guess the next best thing is to time it "by ear".
When done with that, retard it a couple degrees.
If it takes a few "rumpas" as Dell calls them to start,
that would be pretty normal.
