stearing box lube 8N

How do I check or add lube to the stearing gear box on an 8n

One of the bolts that holds battery box to gear is where checked.

Early or late 8N steering box? They were different and fill plugs are different. Early used a 1/4 NPT plug, late used a 7/16-14 HEX Bolt. Don't pour oil down thru the
steering wheel acorn nut as shown in manuals or you'll end up with a real mess. I made my own special fill plugs by adding a Zerk fitting to the NPT plug and the 7/16
Bolt head as shown. Use Corn Head grease to lube. Some will disagree but I have never had any issues using it. Shown are pix.
