Steering Arm

I had the same problem and question with my SA. The most common advice was to heat it up. All I had was a hardware store variety propane torch. I didn't think it would be adequate so out of interest I made a frame from angle-iron that a gear puller would attach to. It worked. It was a interesting project but it took some time. I'm convinced a decent torch is the way to go.

The arm is on a tapered part of the vertical shaft. They are known for their stubbornness.
Send me an e-mail (my e-mail is open, classic view) and I'll e-mail you a sketch of a purpose built puller for the steering arm.
