steering box grease.

hey guy's what does Napa carry that is the same as cornhead grease? what about the CV joint grease? it's green and pretty much the same consistancy.....thanks

Nope, I have used both Cornhead and CV grease and I do not think they are the same. I have checked at Tractor Supply, O'Reilly's and NAPA and none of them carry a NLGI #0 grease. You will have to go to JD to get it.

MF also sells cornhead grease.

CNH sells a pourable high EP grease in quart bottles that is better for your gearbox than is cornhead grease. I use it in the gearbox on one of my rotary cutters that leaks 90W a bit between the input shaft and a speedy sleeve.

i picked up a bottle of lucas hub oil to run in my servis 72 mower. it also has a seal weep.. seems to be holding with a couple shots of #4 grease into the box and hub in in the mix. lucas doesn't mention the weight of the hub oil.. but it looks thicker than 85/140 compaired side to side.. I was thinking 200 or marine 300w even.. hard to say without testing.
