Steering Column torque question

If I did replace the valve in my MF202 steering column, the manual says to torque the big nut to a specific amount.

See the nut in the pic below. My question is how do you torque that nut. The torque wrench I have and all that I have see are for use with a socket.

How would you torque a nut on a shaft like in the picture? Would a crow foot open wrench work and give an accurate reading on a regular torque wrench?

With a crowfoot, the torque readings will be wrench length divided by the total length (wrench length +
crowfoot length). Multiply the reading by the total length (crowfoot + wrench length) and divide by
wrench length. Or, you can use a spring-type fish scale to pull on an open-end or Crescent wrench (lbs
* wrench length in feet).

As per the MF shop manual:
Tighten to 20-30 ft lbs torque (this will seat the bearings, and washers) then back off 1/4 turn. Stake nut into keyway.

Here written instruction sheet that came with a torque wrench about using attachment with a torque wrench.

Also you can search on line for Belknap Tools. In the Crowsfoot section of their site they have an on line calculator. They do a lot with torque wrenches and adapters.
