Steering Problem

Can anyone point me to information on steering
repair. I was making some tight turns tonight and
steering became very sloppy then unresponsive,
unless I turned wheel slowly. I have a 9n 1941.

If I turn right tractor responds , but left not so
good.

I didn't find much searching, but if anyone has
good info. I'm all ears. Need to know where to
begin.

Not a good time, the grass is growing.

Jim,Check your right brake petal for sticking on or the right brake dragging by feeling the right brake drum to see if its extra warm or hot.

If it is not the brake, then jack up the front end of the tractor and try to move the wheels each direction with the steering wheel.

Are the wheels aligned properly? If not, then the steering sectors may have jumped a tooth. This is common on the 9N and 2N when the teeth get worn.

I had to replace the steering gears (pinion and two sectors) on our 2N years ago for this reason.
