YT parts does not have stock on the Steering Worm & nut for a 4500 - D2NN3A710E

But (looking for 4000 rather than 4500) they do have a D2NN3A710D at a very attractive price.

They are definitely listed as different parts at the New Holland parts site. What that difference is, I can't tell.

Difference between suffix D & E versions of this part, anyone?

While I really should just go with the full-hydraulic conversion, the price is nice if it would work to get the manual steering gear working again, at least. But if the part won't fit, no point.

Editing seems to be broken (I don't change the subject, it tells me I can't change the subject and rejects my edits...)

The part they do have:

Right hand spiral. For models 3500, 3550, (4000 with manual steering all years w. power steering from 1965-1970), 420, 515, 535.

The part they don't have
http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/D2NN3A710E_Steering-Shaft-With-Nut_10228.htm

Steering shaft and nut assembly. For 4400, 4500, 515, 535

Both parts list the 515, 535 - so are they functionally the same, or not??

Just went through this a couple months ago. Guy brings in the box only for a "4000" that ended up being a 4500 after we got in two incorrect shaft assemblies. The rotation of the threads & ball nuts are opposite for the two applications. TISCO ( and by default YT) has poor info by listing the 515 and 535 for both parts. Sparex lists both styles and cross references to OEM part numbers. Sparex p/n S.60470 is what you need.
