Does anyone know if I can get a steering shaft fixed or where to buy a replacement. It is for a 1946 John Deere A. The inner bearing races are pitted and I believe they are part of the complete shaft assembly. Also the packing material or nut where the shaft goes though the box.

Some pitting may not be a problem. That shaft doesn't turn very fast so it shouldn't matter much. You can use corn picker head grease to minimize leaks and provide lubrication.
