sticky brake while backing up

I have noticed a couple of times now my left brake pedal sticking down after applying the brakes when backing up. it seems to release when I go forward or I can pull it up easily with my toe. What would cause this?

You forgot the third spring used only on the left brake or the leading edges of the shoes aren't beveled at a 45* angle.

dont mean to intrude, just did my left side and used the old pads over again, how do you bevel them with a bench grinder carefully? (and a mask for the asbestos)?
