Stihl Chainsaw Clutch Question

I need a new clutch assembly for my Stihl MS250 chainsaw, it has a 16" bar on it. When I look at clutch kits I see some with a 6 tooth sprocket and some with a 7 tooth, they list both for a MS250 but I'm wondering which one I need?? Mine currently has a 6 tooth on it but someone could have put the wrong one on it.

The sprocket must match the chain. Get what u got. If your going with 7 tooth then I need the chain also.

I bought the saw and there was no bar or chain with it, I ordered a bar and chain and it is 3/8 LP pitch, 0.050 inch gauge, and 55 drive links

If you're happy with the way it cuts, stick with the six tooth sprocket. I'm pretty sure they share the same pitch, but the seven tooth will run the chain slower.

I think you have that backwards. Increasing tooth count will run chain faster, at the sacrifice of less tourque.

You can run either the 6 or 7 tooth sprocket. Stay with the 6 tooth sprocket. You probably dont have the power to run the 7 tooth sprocket as it will run faster and work your engine harder. 7 tooth will make it a dog.

Either one will work as long as it's for a 3/8" pitch chain. The .050 is the width of the bars groove that the chain rides in.
Smaller saws. I prefer smaller sprockets. More power and a little slower chain speeds.
I also prefer rim sprockets over drums.
