I haven't been on here for quite a while, and this will probably be my last post anyway.

Our family lost the most important member, (wife and mother) to congestive heart failure. She wished to pass away here at the house and that is exactly what she did.In my estimation, not only did we lose an extremely important human being, but the world did to.Thanks to my wonderful children, who carried out her last wishes ,in the best possible care that could be had. She passed away Aug 15th ,2016 at 6:37 pm. My last words to her was " I will be with you always, darling." and I feel that being 81 going on 82, it will not be very long.

Neuropathy not only has taken my legs, but also my hands,so I can no longer play the piano,or walk without assistance from my Son.Like I said,I am blessed with wonderful children.

To make life easier,we found a grain elevator,to aid in loading up wood to our truck, the truck which has a hydraulic dump bed for easier unloading. When I did the steel bed of the one ton, I had the foresight to make it pivot in the back,my daughter purchased the hyd pump assembly, and we did use galvanized fittings for the hookup. When I explained what we were doing I was advised by one of the members on YT, that i can't use galvanize, they were wrong, it has been working for the last 5-6 years.

Reading a lot on Adirondack Case Guys, post I was extremely interested in him using a conveyor to load the wood into the trailer, I thought it would be the berries and save our Bobcat from loading the truck. We looked around locally, one outfit wanted $975.00 for a disassembled unit another wanted $850.00 that has been setting for years on a consignment, a different farmer who had one, it wasn't used for at least 5 years, and was supposed to call us on a Thursday, because another guy was interested in it. I waited around all day Thursday, that came and went,so did Friday, Saturday ,Sunday, finally Monday he called. We ignored him like he did us,because in the meantime, on our way to Rice Lake, which was a different way we go, there sat in the field, a great looking elevator in the field with a for sale sign on it.My son stopped and got the phone number and called the owner, come to find out we knew the man. He was using it for unloading cob corn, but didn't need it any more. He sold it to us for $400.00 and greased the wheel bearings for us. Loaned us a hitch pin for it, which we repainted it and gave it back to him on the trip back to Rice Lake. Now all of this going on,my daughter is now suffering from extreme anxiety attacks along with Afib, which is terrible. A lot has been going on, and I even read once on here that I had been kicked off, which is not true. That is part of the reason for this post. I am always interested in Adirondack Case Guy and JD Marris, both are being helpful for two of our projects, for which I am grateful. In my estimation, this was what YT was supposed to provide to its members
Well there you have it, I see that JD Marris hasn't posted for quite a while, and I do miss his posts, I so enjoy Adirondack Case Guys pictures and the kindness he shows YT patrons by sharing his information, my hat is off to both of these gentlemen.

In lieu of any condolences you intend to send, I ask you not to,but to help one another with true and accurate information that will help one another.
Regards,

LOU

That is quite a story of a wonderful family that you have staying strong and supportive and loving to one another just like God intended us to do. Hats of to you all. I will try my best to honour your request as best as I am able. Dwayne Phillips PEI Canada

Well I am the young man in Tennessee that enjoyed you hard work on the old crawler. At 73 I am fine but know I am in the latter endings of the ball game. So sorry for your loss and am really glad you cam back and posted you condition. I know a lot of us on here have missed you. If I know the answer I always try and help and as you say that is the good of this board. Old age is not good but it does have the advantage of having a lot of life experiences. Again stay on here and keep posting.

I'm glad your family is there for you Lou.

My BIL has an elevator like that. I remember using it in 1972, the year we moved on the farm, when I worked for his day baling hay. He chose that type so that he could use it for cob corn and hay. Wasn't new then. Although they only put about 2000 bales in the barn a year now they still use it. The one you pictured looks to be in pretty good shape. Around here those are a 400 dollar unit. Hardly anyone puts up cob corn or small squares anymore.

Sorry to hear of your loss but talking will help and I would bet you still have a lot to give I always tell people it's not there hands it's what they know that's important to me. Is that a Kewanee elevator? If so I got a motor mount and bale chute that will fit on. It's been a while since I've been in that area sister used to live by Tony ok just outside of Ladysmith. I'm going to junk that elevator if you want I have a couple sections that are still good. Word of warning check your cables that's why it's junk first one that broke wasn't that far off the ground but the higher you go the bigger the crash and the poorer the survival rate and the second one that broke was high.

We had an elevator like that on the farm, it would reach to the top of our hay shed that would hold about 8,000 small squares. I wish I had half of it for loading firewood! When I left home in 69 dad switched to big round bales, a lot less labor.

The older I get the more bonded I am with my bride of 46 years. But Lou, as long as you can still type, spend a little time with us each week. Share a story or two and your wealth of knowledge. I'm sure your down, but your not out. Treasure that time with your children. Sending a little prayer to you and yours. gobble

I haven't seen you post in a while Lou. We lost our matriarch in '94. Not much to say but ROUGH. I hope you reconsider and take advantage of the little family we have here. Its hard enough alone.

jm

thanks for the call Tuesday night with pointers for replacing track tensioner on TD7G. offer still stands. you make it to Washington state, lunch is on me. thanks again. mike

My son in law built a place with a wood stove on a second story. I suggested to him to get an elevator which he did, not as long as yours. He rigged it up with an electric motor and a very slow reduction. He can fill the elevator with pieces and shut it off, then go up on his deck at the top of the elevator where he has another switch, turn the elevator back on and stack wood in his rack as the elevator turns slowly.

Hi Lou,
from the opposite end of our state, I send my condolences. She was a remarkable woman, I'm sure.

I've missed your posts. Sure there's been some issues, but this is the internet and it's no different than the real world. You can't please everyone.
we'll remember you request

So sorry to hear about your wife. Great to know about your wonderful children and how they took care of her right up to the end. May God comfort you and your family.
