Stuck Engine and Head Removal

I just picked up a 52 8N with a stuck engine. The previous owner said it had been sitting in a barn for 10-15 years, and he had taken the head off and filled the cylinders with diesel fuel within the last year, but he was unable to free it. Since it already had the head off, I filled the cylinders with vinegar, and have been letting it sit for a few days, rocking the tractor back and fourth occasionally...still no luck. I see a few people have an issue with people removing the head off the engine...why does this seem to be an issue? If the head is straight (which it looks like), I should only have to put a new head gasket on it if I ever get this darn thing unstuck...or is there way more involved when the head comes off?

Oh, I see...well, considering it was already off when I got it, I'm kind of committed now. I took the exhaust manifold off this afternoon, and the 2 little valve covers, and there was piles of corn and bird seed everywhere. I covered the lifters etc... in ATF fluid, and poured more down onto the cam. I think I will remove the vinegar and fill the cylinders with ATF and let it sit for a week or so and see if that helps. I also took the starter off and tried prying the flywheel, and it moves a tiny bit, but not enough to break the engine free...

Sounds to me that with all the crud you are finding on the inside of the engine, that you would be better served to figure on a rebuild of the engine. If it does move a little bit, ATF, or straight penitrating oil would be the best to use. PB Blaster in the bores and on the valves....then let it set for about two days! If it moves a little more....do it again.
After that length of time setting......rings, valves, and bearings are probly all froze up!!!
Sounds like the barn mice have made them-selves a home in there!!!

Luck to ya!!!
