stuck motor

I have been working on getting a Model A running,. I had the starter rebuilt and was able to get it to run for a few seconds before it would die. I went back to work on it again after about 6 weeks and now it wont turnover. I took starter loose and it still
spends. any idea as to what would cause this or what I should look at next? Thanks in advance

If anywhere in that fuel system there was water it would make rust. Could also be bad block if the head gasket was bad or the cooling portion of the block had even a small hole in it you might have ran some water into the engine. What i would advise you doing is pull the crankcase breather cover off and seperate the pistons from the crank. After check if its free from the crankshaft. If it is its a piston problem most likely expanded rings or lots of rust. If its a crank problem then probably main bearing issue.

Pull the spark plugs out to make sure the cylinders aren't full of gas or water.....can't compress liquid........

Open your petcocks and put in a known good battery, can not believe it is stuck from sitting six weeks, can believe the battery went dead. Have had one diesel that would turn over while decompressed then stop on compression from liquid in cylinder from sitting.

Thanks for the suggestions. Battery is good and charged. I pulled the plugs and blew air into each cylinder. I found that the right side had some moisture in the cylinder.

If the engine remains "Stuck" after soaking with ATF filling the cylinders, use a 1/2 ton Come-a-long from the front frame, wrapped around the flywheel..

NOT a whole lot of pressure, but if it does not move, reverse the direction...repeat...moderate pressure is ok, once you KNOW the plugs are out ..

It may not turn fully, without reversing directions several times..

I have sen these stick in just a week or 2 of sitting..

COVER the Exhaust and seal the exhaust manifolds with "Thermo-Steel" ( Autozone).. Works and Stays in place...NOT expensive..
