Stuck pipe plug in cylinder head

I was thinking about putting an actual water temperature gauge in addition to the stock cold/hot gauge on my 4630. There is a 1/2" pipe plug right in front of the electric sending unit on the head. Problem is, it won't come out. Should I dare heat it up with a torch??? Or not risk it since it is just for a gauge? Any other ideas? Thought it would be nice to have all the stock gauges working, and actual temp and oil pressure gauges as well. Thanks!

With the coolant drained, heat up the PLUG red hot and allow to cool to ambient and repeat a couple of times, then apply some "loosen juice". It will almost turn out by hand after that.

It's amazing what the heating and cooling process will loosen up...

Apply candle wax as it cools- seeps between the threads to loosen.

It has never failed me, even worked on spark plugs on a Ford 4500 backhoe...couldn"t get in with a torch, so ran the tractor to op temp 2-3 times, applied wax each time, and it turned right out. Since I"m a Catholic, sometimes I use a blessed candle LOL.
