styled or unstyled

I have been around old putt putt john deeres a little and i have seen called styled or unstyled what is the difference between them

There is no sheet metal grill/nose covering on the front of the unstyled (pre 1939) tractors. Radiator is more visible

Top right hand corner is an unstyled G. Lower left hand corner is a styled G.

john deere is not the only one , its after around 1939 into the 1940's that all tractors were styled with more sheet metal. basically the rads were enclosed with a tin grill and fancier sheet metal on the tractors. john deere called them styled and unstyled. just he changing times. think it was henry dryfus the engineer of that.
