Got my new calendar, has a picture of a 1953 Super 99 Oliver diesel. I've not seen one. Where they a pretty good horse?

Oops - not a super, just Oliver 99

the 1953 99 is kinda known as the styled 99 it uses the same six cyl gas and diesel engine that the Super 99 used but it used the trans/final drive that was same as the old unstyled 99. So I'm sure it had the same snort as a super 99 just had a 4 spd trans with a belt pulley instead of a 6 spd and no belt pulley. 53 was the only year for this tractor as well

Was the Oliver/GM combo ever available with belt pulley? I have a memory from childhood of a GM powered Ollie with belt pulley used in a sawmill.

yeah it did it was a special pto unit that had the pulley hooked up to the pto.

We have a few styled 99's they are O.K., I would have to look it up but when they were new they may have been the biggest wheel tractor you could buy. The belt pulley was an option only available when they pto was ordered, less than half built would be equipped with it. The newer 1900-1950GM had a belt pulley option also it bolts to the pto housing.

There was a man who lived in the next town. He got laid off from the railroad and went to work for Oliver at plant 2 in South Bend. His job was on the assembly of belt pulleys. I kidded him about not building many belt pulleys. He said" More than you would think". Most of the ones they assembled were on tractors for export and I know he did not mean Canada.

John, most of the waukesha's had pto's and if they had a pto they most likely also had a belt pulley, although you do see the odd one without. It is tough to find the pulley itself, I'm not sure if they came with the pulley or if you had to order it also.
