My 48 mutt (51 sidemount engine) is back together. I burned up the clutch late last summer trying to get through some blackberry briers so I trailered it home for repairs. Didn't get it split until recently. Found two broken clutch disc hold down bolts so fixed that. Put the new clutch in and with he help of one of my sons got it back together. Hooked everything back up and installed the battery and after checking fluids gave it a whirl. No start so began troubleshooting. Found no spark. Found grease on the points and cleaned them. Gave it another whirl. No start. Must have flooded it cause the float was stuck until I tapped it with a screwdriver. Waited for an hour and went back to it with a can of ether and gave it another whirl, this time with a healthy shot of ether. SUCCESS! It is purring like a kitten and the clutch works too. I'm a happy puppy (really I a happy very old dog) and I just had to share.

Good News 'Oldtruck'. That was me a few months ago that recognized your handle. Yes I'm old enough to know about Reo's and Macks.
