Super 55 Basket Case

Always wanted a super 55. Have an option for a early (green wheel) 55 'ran when parked' for $500 ish. Gas tank destroyed and other 'farmerizations'. Will need complete rebuild I expect. Its mostly there except the grille and trim.

Ive rebuilt a 9N and a MF 35 - complete rebuilds engine, hydraulics, lift, etc.

Any comments on parts avail? Will need rebuild kit for gas motor, gas tank, radiator has a hole in it, etc.

Im not afraid of the work (tho I haver a ford 640 in line to rebuild too)

Any comments on parts availability much much appreciated.

Bill

Price sounds good. Parts should all be available used or new aftermarket. Get to know Kent Gordon on here. He's the Super 55 parts guy. I gave $1000 for mine in pieces. Even the engine was in pieces, pressure plate was bad, some of the sheet metal was gone. Looks and runs good now.

Call Kent Gordon 903-729-8349. He will have almost everything you will need to put it back together including how to.

I will second Randy's mention of Kent Gordon. I just received a spindle from him for my Green wheeled Super 55. Great guy to work with. Where are you located? I live in Central Wis and have worked with Justin Meyer from Goodhue MN, or Brian Lagesse from Bloomer WI as good sources for used Oliver parts. Steve.

A great tractor. I had one for several years.
You might be surprised that it runs once you get the fuel situation worked out. Very rugged tractors. The shift pattern takes a while to get used to.
Biggest challenge I had on mine was the leaking seals on the brake shafts. Had a hsrd time finding them and replacing was a PITA.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I have a 550. You will have a mint in it when done! There are or was several size of engine displacement kits for them.
