Super 55 hydrolic/3 point question

In the cold weather, the three point on our tractor doesn't want to go up. Once it run for a while it works ok, but is slow to raise. the fluid appears to be okay, not milky, but is most likely quite old.

Is this just normal for this old tractor? Is it bad to operate it this way?

If this isn't normal, what would you suggest I do to fix the issue?

Thanks,

Joe

For starters, I'd change the oil first. Put in some fresh oil. if it has old oil in it someone might have put a heavy weight oil in it. change the filter too.

If it is milky, it most likely has water in it. The water will freeze if it's cold. You have to pump the fluid out using the drain plug on the right front of the tractor. Change the filter for sure. Hope that's all it needs.

Hi Joe, I"m in Nw MN, and yeah, it"s cold out here. As others have said, try changing oil. Nothing too heavy though for our temps. I have been using Harvest King universal trans/hydraulic fluid with no problems for years. My manual says 10w engine oil can be used below 32 degrees also.
