Super 88 axle

I have to remove axle on a Super 88. How do you remove snap ring from inside axle tube? I assume it has to come out to remove shaft but I can't figure out how. Thanks in advance.

Take the cover off the top of the rearend and you will see the bull gears and the end of
the axle with a large snap ring, remove it and pull the axle out
