Super A gasket troubles

Was in the middle of taking apart the touch control unit (TCU) for a rebuild on a SuperA when the grandsons wanted to stop by. Cleaned up the shop for them and that came back to bite me.
Turns out the there are 2 different thickness’s of the TCU head gasket. Depends on the tractor serial number. But I remember replacing the whole TCU about 25 years ago so no real way to know which gasket to use except to measure the old one . And, yeah that part got thrown out when I cleaned up! So I guess I now have a 50/50 chance of guessing which one is right - wish me luck!

50 % chance for me equals 99 % chance being wrong. Pretty much guaranteed. Good luck.

Look for the other parts that changed at the same time. The early block was 350644R1, using gasket 353771R2. The later blocks were 355349R1 and 357657R1 using gasket 354354R2. Hopefully you still have the part numbers on the gaskets.

You’re a life saver Jim! I was all set to put the head on with the wrong gasket before I read your reply. I have an early TCU block, 350644R1 and info from other gasket kits ( 2 thickness are supplied) says to use the thin (.016) gasket with early numbered.My tractor is missing the serial number plate, so this thread may help others in similar situations that have to decide the thickness based just on the block number.
