Super A Governor Weight Pin

I'm trying to rebuild a governor on my Super A. The issue I've ran into is, one of the weights had gotten stuck to the pin, causing the hole for the cotter pin to become egged out. Replacement pins are around $45. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make a replacement? I'm thinking possibly getting some drill stock from McMaster-Carr and heat treating it but want to get some input first.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. About 40 years ago guy i farmed with was putting saddle spray tanks on a new tractor he bought. We were using it to preemerge spray. He found out what he wanted was at a dealer in next town. We went to get them and when they priced them he said that is too much. We got back in truck to leave and i told him it was his tanks he was buying but in about 6 days it would be time for that spray rig to roll. Did he know where he could get tanks any cheaper. He got out and went back in. A few minutes later tanks were in pick up and we were headed home.

Wonder if any connector pins for the "half-links" of larger roller chain would be the correct size and long enough?

01 drill stock is a poor material choice for the pin . It will break under load from the weight. I suggest you select something else . The 45 buck s is cheap compared to what will happen with your selection .

McMaster-Carr has multiple types of drill stock from different types of steel.

Looks like the reason the price is so high is due to it being discontinued.

Thank you. I found it earlier today. I'm a little hesitant since they are aftermarket and a seller I'm not familiar with. But I'll give them a shot.
Please post back with "the rest if the story once you contact G&T.
