Super C clutch again

About a week ago I posted about replacing the clutch plate and pressure plate on my Super C and when finished I couldn't get the tractor into gear. After some thought I was pretty sure I had warped the
replacement so I bought another one and install it today. The first one was off a bit from flat. The new one was flat as it should be. It went together with no problems, unlike my first one. Problem is I still
can't get the tractor into gear with the new plate installed. There isn't any more adjustment on the clutch rod and if I unhook the rod and move the lever with a wrench as far as it will go it does not travel
far enough to put the tractor in gear. So I'm asking what next. For the first clutch I also changed the throw out bearing and carrier. New carrier looked the same as the old one. Is there any chance that is in
backwards. I didn't see any difference front to back when I looked at it. Is it possible I'm going to have to adjust the pressure plate fingers. I'm leaving all my tools in place in case I have to spit the
tractor again.

if you take it down again, replace the clutch pilot bearing.

do still have the old clutch and parts, that you removed from the tractor? i have gotten the incorrect parts, a few times.

If the Clutch release lever is bent. or the carrier looks different or of a different length, that is it. Looking through the inspection hole, you should be able to see what is going on. The normal clearance from the TO bearing to fingers is about 1/8 to 3/16" with the pedal having about an inch of travel before the TO touches the fingers. Jim

Does your new pressure plate have the wide fingers or narrow, think Super C calls for the wide ones. I got in to something like this years ago. Tore my tractor apart to change ring gear and starter drive on a Sunday, wasn't counting on clutch to be wore out too. No parts on Sunday so I got a decent used clutch at a local junk yard, guy said it was out of an A but would work in a C. Snow was coming and needed the tractor. I had to adjust those fingers out a quite a ways to make it work and it worked fine for years. Then about four years ago I put a new clutch with the wide finger p. plate back in it.

It's not very entertaining to adj. those fingers through that hole on the bottom. I sandwiched about four hacksaw blades together to make a feeler gauge to put between the throw out brg. and pressure plate fingers.
